BBL stands for BroadBand Light. It uses pulsed light rather than a traditional laser to target the appearance of sun damage, brown spots, redness, and visible vessels. Sciton, who make the device, list it for benign pigmented lesions, age and sun spots, vascular lesions, rosacea, and mild to moderate inflammatory acne.

MOXI® is a 1927nm non-ablative fractional laser. It creates tiny treatment zones in the skin to encourage renewal, which can help improve the look of tone, texture, and early signs of aging. Treatments take about 8 to 10 minutes once numbing is complete.

They treat different things. BBL HEROic™ targets colour concerns, so brown spots, sun damage, and redness. MOXI® works on texture and overall tone.

If your main concern is discolouration, BBL is usually the starting point. If it is roughness or dullness, Moxi is. Many people benefit from both, which is why we offer them as a pair.

Downtime is minimal compared with more aggressive resurfacing. Sciton describes MOXI® downtime as little to none, and says of BBL that most people can apply make-up, return to work, and resume most activities immediately.

After BBL you may notice your pigmented spots darken, then fade and flake off at a later stage. That is expected, and we will tell you exactly what to look for. You may also have some redness in the treated area, which usually settles within a few hours.

Follow your aftercare plan until your skin has fully healed, typically about a week. Your recovery kit covers that period.

Sunscreen is the important one. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily from the day of treatment, and keep the treated area out of direct sun for 14 days. Treated skin is more prone to burning and to pigment changes.

Cleanse gently twice a day with lukewarm water, using your hands rather than a cloth or brush. Skip exfoliants, scrubs, and anything abrasive while you are healing. Moisturize whenever your skin feels dry.

Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until your skin has healed, and stay out of pools and hot tubs. If the area feels especially warm in the first 12 hours, a cool compress helps.

MOXI® is designed to be suitable for all skin types and can be used year-round, because the 1927nm wavelength targets water in the skin rather than pigment.

BBL HEROic™ is indicated for Fitzpatrick skin types I to V. Your provider will assess your skin type at consultation and recommend what is appropriate for you.

Sciton recommends 2 to 4 MOXI® treatments for most people, though some results can be visible after a single session. Our packages of three reflect that. Your provider will recommend a plan based on your skin and your goals.

BBL HEROic™ for the face and neck is $700 for one session or $1,900 for a package of three. MOXI® is $850 for one session or $2,300 for a package of three. Booking both together is $1,400 for one session or $3,800 for a package of three. Chest can be added to any treatment. These are introductory prices, available for a limited time.
